A peak inside my sketchbook:

Hand-painted patterns

Perhaps the most valuable illustration class I ever took was “Illustrated Notebook”. Over the course of the class we kept a dedicated sketchbook where we experimented with different drawing mediums, explored various themes, drew from prompts and learned how to make low-stakes art. This allowed me to discover new ways to work, develop new skills and create connections between my sketchbook practice, and my larger art practice. For my final project for the class I created digital patterns from spreads in my sketchbook, a process that I deeply enjoy and continue to practice today.
